When i first started Personal Training i set out to please everyone (except myself)
I wanted to be available no matter what time my clients wanted to train.
It didnt take me long to realise i was missing out on my quality of life and whilst i was looking after my clients, i wasnt spending enough time looking after ME.
You need to be flexible, sure, you know that, but you can be flexible and organised. Here’s just one example of how to set up your working week. It can be done in many different formats but this is just one example….

Set 2 prices based on time – Peak and Off Peak
Everybody will want the same times and will say they can’t get there any other time, unless you present your booking sheet in a different way
Here’s just one example
Green zones are during the day and are cheaper. You’ll be surprised how many people will make the extra effort to book one of your off peak times if presented correctly, and if they know they are saving money as well as achieveing there goals!
You can change this to suit your working life
So if you are a morning person, make all your early times off peak and encourage others to get up early.
So thats just one option. But every trainer should work from a diary and adhere to it
Make sure your clients know your cancellation policy from day 1. Clients wont be put off if you are up front with them. Many trainers forget to lay down there cancellation policy and waste too much time on missed sessions. A simple way to do this is if you have sold a block of 10 sessions. Say you will charge for a full session if a session is missed with no notice or less than 24 hours ( you just wont have time to resell it) If more than 24 hours notice is given then rearrange the session, but do not allow your client to rearrange more than 2 sessions. They will want to achieve there goals, and must form that exercise habit!
Always remember to mark what days off you arent working and dont ever agree to do just one session that day. It is a day off and needs to be a day of rest to keep you fresh!
