i was asked by pm to recommend a couple of books for people who are looking at training to become a personal trainer
so here you go.....
this one on strength training is used by most fitness training companies as its great to help you learn and understand anatomy and physiology
it also shows by illustration, the striations of muscle
Click here (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0736041850?ie=UTF8&tag=p01f-21&linkCode=as2&camp=1634&creative=6738&creativeASIN=0736041850)- Strength Training (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0736041850?ie=UTF8&tag=p01f-21&linkCode=as2&camp=1634&creative=6738&creativeASIN=0736041850)
its a great book and i still have a copy its that good!
also
this book on pnf stretching is possibly one of the best books you'll invest in
it covers a form of developmental stretching that is still not widely used in gyms, but is a great tool for a personal trainer as its hands on and is actually not that well known, except by advanced trainers and professional sport persons
click here for pnf strectching book (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/3540526498?ie=UTF8&tag=p01f-21&linkCode=as2&camp=1634&creative=6738&creativeASIN=3540526498)
other things to consider is to make sure you practice what you preach
dont just be a weight lifter or cardio nut
try drop setting, Peripheral Heart Action training, pyramids, circuits, and for cardio, try hill walking(on treadmill with no running), fartlek, intervals etc etc
learn your trade by training in the gym yourself and then when you start your course you'll already be half way there :)
good luck!
