hi,

im not a personal trainer or even a gym instructor.
im doing some research and trying to get a feel for things.

ive been phyiscal all my life palying a lot of sports trying to stay healthy and eat right and wanted to learn more and go the personal trainer way and then help others.
obviously money is a key factor when it comes to making a good living and i just wanted to know from any experienced people out there where they are-are you making a good living;are you enjoying it?

i come from a background of modeling and wanting to ultimately to be a self employed personal trainer and thought maybe my background would help in terms of clients and being my own boss type thing?

look in know careers and life is what you make but i jsut would like a bit of advice with the reality of the road to being a self emplyed trainer?

sweet.

Hi and welcome to PTHub

most personal trainers start off and gain experience as a fitness instructor
(but not all)
it also helps you build an inital client base as a lot of trainers split there time between gym and home training

the industry can pay very well, although fitness instructors are some of the worst paid, highly qualified people in any industry and work unsociable hours

personal trainers however can charge a very decent hourly rate, its just down to marketing yourself correctly and getting enough clients on a regular basis

one of the areas personal trainers generally fail in is the sales aspect
not many people like 'sales' but to be a success you need to become good at it, or use a service like the one im creating here :)

good luck in your career and have at look at my fitness articles (http://pthub.co.uk/personaltrainer) site, its growing daily

As I'm currently training to become a PT, is it worth me maybe doing some sort of sales and marketing course? To be honest, the thought of doing that doesn't thrill me but I do realise how important those skills are to succeed in a business such as ours.
