hey all! I've been lucky enough to be able to live and train clients between Thailand and Australia for the last six years. It's been a bloody awesome experience, but now it's time to establish myself back in the UK where I actually have ZERO training experience as personal trainer really. Couple of questions if that's peachy?

1. Is it as bad as all the naysayers keep banging on about? I mean, is there anyone here who's been a PT as long as me (or longer!!) who's honestly pulling 50-60K year?
2. What sort of prices do good PT's charge for a 30-minute session?
3. What sort of rental agreement is the norm for UK gyms / studios? Like, I pay 50% of all my PT sessions to the gym until I reach max of $300 per week, then the rest is mine, for example. What's the norm here please?

Thanks heaps guys!

Hi mate, welcome to the forum! Great questions, it isn't as bad as anyone says, you just need to be shrewd when it comes to finding your ideal clients. People have still got money! In terms of 30 minutes, I charge 60% of full price but could go higher and no sure about gym rents but the average is probably £750? That would be four figures in London!

Hope everything goes well

Cheers

JH:)

Hi,

Well done for your career so far. Would living the dream beat the right term to use for you? :)

I'm sure John's example is per month. I don't work from a gym, the great outdoors is my gym! I'm sure its even greater in the sun!!!!

Good Luck, keep us updated with your venture

Hi Mate

I do about £40k a year through PT, online PT, Kickboxing classes, Bootcamps etc. and I'm just staring franchise to my business. The moneys there you just have to look hard enough :)

You have to negotiate e.g. I went from paying £300 per month to teach 5 40 minutes classes. Try out budget gyms e.g. Fitness4less, the gym group a yo cn usually get better deals for yourself

Hope this helps bro, Good luck
